Majestic is the solemn sibling of Heroic. Where heroic music acts, majestic music stands still and looks on. It doesn't describe a deed, but a grandeur that already exists: a landscape, a building, an institution, a life's work.
How to recognize it
By the tempo, which sits well below that of trailer music — often between 60 and 80 beats, with long note values. By the harmony, which takes its time: one chord change per bar or less often, frequently with a pedal point in the bass. And by the instrumentation, which favors fullness over movement: brass in wide voicing, strings in high registers, choir on open vowels, plus plenty of reverb.
Majestic music rarely has a drop. It builds up and then stays there.
What it's suited for
For anything that endures: aerial and landscape footage, architecture, corporate portraits with history, anniversaries, openings, museum and exhibition films, end credits with an outlook. In documentaries, it carries time-lapses and panoramas, as long as they're not cut fast.
What it's not for: fast cutting sequences. A shot that changes every two seconds gives music no time to build its grandeur — that's where epic is the right choice.
No PRO registration
All tracks are cleared on both sides: royalty-free for the composition, GVL-free for the recording. This matters especially for museum and exhibition films — music plays there publicly and permanently, and that's exactly where GVL comes in. The Cue Sheet is generated automatically, licensing is a one-time payment starting at 1.49 €.
